Musician Bisa K Dei has bemoaned what he says is the lack of appreciation for the highlife genre in Ghana.
Dei, who rose to fame on the back of a number of hits that were largely highlife in arrangement and presentation, says the trend is worrying.
He told Jeremie and Jay Foley on Live Breakfast Club on Live 91.9 FM despite the ‘neglect’, the genre remains Ghana’s biggest export.
“Highlife is so underrated in Ghana. We want to correct that. That is why i am bringing out theBreakthrough album.”
Dei, a songwriter of few years standing has collaborated with some of Ghana’s biggest acts including Sarkodie, and Efya.
His recent collaboration with Obrafour for the latter’s Pimpinaa single continues to enjoy decent airplay.
The talented singer is set to release his second major album Breakthrough. The album, which is being released after Thanksgiving, his first, has some ten songs on it.
