Kwaw crowned the Artiste of the Year

Kwaw KeseThe 2008 9th edition of Ghana Music Awards, honouring the most recognizable names in the Ghana music industry rolled out at the National Theatre yesterday nite.


Crowd-controlled guests anticipated special guest performances from hip-hop artiste, Ja Rule, P Square, Nameless and other surprise performances who did not disappoint them. The hyped unforgettable evening which was promised to be jam packed with more music and more celebrities than ever before was like the other previous GMA ceremonies, nothing new period.


Heralded by the media as “the Grammy Awards of Ghana,” the show set a new standard in Ghana when MTN, title sponsors of GMA added a cash price of 1,000 GH cedis to winners of the nite.


The evening was highlighted with special awards that were presented to Ja Rule and Keisha White who were honored.


Batman Samini and Doreen Andoh played host for the 9th annual MTN Ghana Music Awards show.


Kwaw Kese and Ohenmaa Mercy had their names called the most . Kwaw Kese won five of the six categories in which she was up.
