Stephen Ntim: The man NPP and Ghana needs for now

After closely losing the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections, the NPP is putting together a strong team to retake power from the present incompetent government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). To do this, the NPP needs to elect people who truly understand the dynamics on the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and those who are in touch with the grassroots and can relate well to the struggling Ghanaian.

People are elected or appointed into party leadership for one single reason; to take people to power. Among the aspirant for the position of NPP National Chairman, only one has the necessary experience to galvanise the party to snatch power from the jaws of this insensitive NDC government. He is the man by the name, Mr Steven Ayesu Ntim. With his enormous requisite experience in NPP and national politics especially at the grassroots, Mr Ntim has the right strategy to lead the party to recapture power from the NDC in the 2016 general elections.

The former National First Vice Chairman who has contested twice for the position of National Chairman, is again making his third attempt at the chairmanship position. Some may ask “why do you want to contest for the chairmanship position for the third time”. Mr Ntim answers this question by stating that he has grown in experience, and still has a lot to offer in terms of strategic advice and leadership because there is no space and time for experimentation in the NPP. He would also help the NPP whip up votes, and recapture swing and traditional parliamentary seats especially in the Brong Ahafo Region, a region he is a proud son of. Mr Ntim would make it a party priority when elected as National Chairman to reclaim majority, if not all, of the lost seats, notably in the Greater Accra, Western and Central regions. He is also convinced that when he is elected into the position of National Chairman, he can lead the NPP to increase its margins in the electorally elastic three northern regions. The output of Mr Ntim’s work as National First Vice Chairman from 2001-2005 stands out clearly for all to see. His profound efforts helped the party to retain power in 2004 and this is a feat he can and wants to repeat in 2016.

As an experienced and strategic thinkers, Mr Ntim promises party supporters a clean campaign devoid of mudslinging because he looks to forge a party with a positive and progressive image that is united and strong. With the perceived factionalism that poses such a serious threat to party unity, Mr Ntim is the sure bet to unify the party since he has a track record of consensus-building. Mr Ntim has in the past and present avoided the politics of acrimony, pettiness, name calling and any negative tendencies with their associate destructive consequences.

After contesting for several high ranking positions within the party, Mr Ntim brings along traits such as innovation, vigilance, resilience, and persistence. He is God fearing, down-to-earth, hardworking, dedicated, respectful, trustworthy, and a visionary. Mr Ntim has also exhibited loyalty, commitment and selflessness by contributing resources (e.g. time, cars, money, etc.) essential for the running of the party. These qualities are not only required in a person vying for the position of National Chairman but these also appeals to both the party faithful and floating voters. This has led to the endorsement of Mr Ntim by Dr Amoako Tuffour (a strong ally of Nana Akuffo Addo), Mr George Ayisi Boateng and other leading and founding members of the NPP.

It could be said that the party lost the 2012 elections due to lack of vigilance and the many underhand technological manoeuvres from several quarters as the electoral commission had introduced a new technology, the biometric register. Mr Ntim who is a system engineer, has the technological know-how to aggressively pursue an increasing usage of technology in the running of the affairs of the party before, during and after elections in areas such as database management, gradual dissemination of information, internet usage and election monitoring. With such expertise, he is committed to the proper recruitment, training and motivation of the NPP’s Polling Agents during the registration of voters and during the actual day of election. These qualities would serve the party well and positively affect the party’s chances of winning the 2016 elections.

Mr Ntim has stated that the “NPP must decide whether we want to win the presidential election in 2016 or not. If we do, then we have to set our priorities right by adopting a holistic precision-targeting approach’. In all estimation, Mr Ntim has the magic wand to vigorously fight and bring the party back to power in 2016.

The national delegates are therefore called to fully endorse Mr Stephen Ntim’s candidature on the 12 April 2014 during the party’s National Delegates Congress in the Northern Regional capital of Tamale for a promising, viable and more visible NPP that is ready to recapture political power in 2016. Mr Stephen Ntim who is number two on the ballot paper is the man the NPP and Ghana needs for now.
