The Vice Captain of the Professional Golfers Association(PGA),Ghana,Eric Henaku has hailed golfers of the ongoing fifth Gold Fields PGA Golf Championship for the quality of play exhibited since the competition started on Wednesday.

According to him, this year has recorded very close scores as compared to last year, an indication that golfers are working hard to improve on their skills.

"It has been a very competitive event and golfers have shown that they are taking the sports very seriously and become the best," he stated.

He said, he was certain that the competition would go down to final day tomorrow(Saturday) before the champion could be determined.

The likes of defending champion, Kojo Barnni, former champion, Amos Korblah as well as other golfers outside Ghana he said, are playing excellently and focused on winning the ultimate prize.

He also thanked sponsors, Gold Fields for increasing the prize money for the year, adding that, "our relationship with Gold Fields have grown over the years and we are certain that it would be bigger in years to come."

In an interview with Nana Prempeh (The British Man), the sports editor of XYZ Broadcasting Company Limited,
Mr. Henaku said, they are working hard to get more sponsorship on board to get more tournaments for professionals to play and make some money.

"We are rolling out a project for 2019 to seek sponsorship from corporate bodies. This is to get the game growing in Ghana and gain the recognition it deserves collaborating with the youth and sports ministry ," he added.

He said, golf is a well known sport across the world and the notion that golf is a lesser known sport in Ghana, must be debunked.

The PGA he said, would continue to work hard to ensure the growth of the sport in the country.
