Pastor ask journalists not to stoke tension through unfair reporting

Juaben (Ash), Jan. 5, GNA - The Reverend Father Edward Baah Baafi, Catholic Parish

Priest of Asante-Juaben, has appealed to the media not to stoke tension through unfair and

inaccurate news reporting.

He asked journalists to uphold high journalistic standards, by ensuring that they get their

facts correct. Rev. Fr. Baafi in a New Year message to the nation poured scorn on the conduct of some

journalists, which he said, had not been helpful to the peace of the country. "Peddling of half-truths, unwarranted and scathing personal attacks, certainly is not the

path to peace and stability."

He said it was important they performed their duties with circumspection, devoid of

mischief. Rev. Fr. Baafi, however, acknowledged the invaluable role of the media in the growth and

sustenance of the country's democracy. He also urged the political leadership to be more accountable and transparent in their

dealings. Rev. Fr. Baafi said the Executive should be guided by the welfare and general good of

society in all their decisions and not to focus on personal benefits. He asked Ghanaians to show love, care and passion for each other to sustain national

peace and harmony.
