With just 19 days to the elections, the Commanding Officer of the Jungle Warfare School at Achiase, Lt. Colonel Jacob Codjoe, has issued a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to prioritise peace before and after the polls.

Speaking at a forum in Oda, he urged citizens to act responsibly to preserve the peace and stability that have become hallmarks of Ghana’s democracy.

He explained that an election is a democratic process for the selection of leaders and must not be used as a vehicle to sow seeds of discord among Ghanaians

"If you go to the polling station, just cast your vote, go home, and rest. When it is 5 PM, come, and they will tell you where to stand. They will count for you. If you win, clap and go home. We are not going to sit down for just two or three people to distort the peace that Ghana is enjoying," he stated.

He stressed that peace is a fundamental pillar of progress and warned against any actions or confrontations that could destabilise the nation.

"The only thing we have in the country now is peace. With peace, everything can go on. If we distort it now, nothing can move forward. We want to continue living in peace so we can engage with one another and remain happy. This election let’s maintain the peace we are enjoying," he emphasised.

He was hopeful that by prioritising peace, the country could strengthen its democratic credentials.
