Akufo-Addo officially endorses Lydia Alhassan

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on voters in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency to throw their weight behind Lydia Alhassan, ahead of the by-election set to take place on Thursday January 31.

According to the president, Lydia Alhassan is sacrificing herself for constituents and the NPP at large to continue the vision of her husband, the former Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon late Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko.

He added that Lydia Alhassan has contributed immensely to the vision of the NPP as she was one of the pillars in the success story of the late Member of Parliament as she campaigned effortlessly with her husband to win the parliamentary sit for him during the 2016 general election.

Lydia Alhassan is the widow of the Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko who died in the United States in November 2018, where he had gone to seek medical treatment.
After the death of the latter, the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat became vacant.

As one of the ways to support the vision of the late Member of Parliament, Lydia Alhassan took it upon herself to contest as the parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, this is to enable her retain the seat for NPP and also continue the vision of her late husband.

Speaking at the NPP’s final rally ahead of Thursday’s by-election, President Akufo-Addo urged constituent to vote for the Lydia Alhassan to continue her late husband’s developmental project as she has sacrificed herself for the love of the constituents and the NPP party.

“You all know her, when Agyarko was alive she was the one who campaigned immensely for him. I know that’s the reason why you all voted for her during the primaries. We should vote for her come Thursday January 31 the same way we voted for her at the primaries
.” he added.


Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as also described the widow as the most competent candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

He added that her victory will be a clear message that the NPP has “zero tolerance for incompetence”.

Meanwhile the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has elected Delali Kwasi Brempong to represent it at the upcoming by-elections for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.
