The Ashanti Regional Executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have cancelled the launch of its regional campaign task force to prosecute the “Agenda One Million Votes in the Ashanti" slated for the weekend to next week.
The launch which was slated for Saturday October 8, at the Kumasi Jubilee Park in the Ashanti Regional capital has been rescheduled for Saturday October 15, 2016.
It is however, unconfirmed whether the decision to postpone the launch of the campaign task force in the Ashanti Region was to afford the executives and leadership of the party have a fair opportunity to dissect the yet to be launched manifesto of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) on the same day at Trade Fair Centre in Accra.
The campaign launch has been slated for Saturday October 15, at same venue and time, statement released to the press and signed by Samed Akalilu, Spokesperson for the Ashanti Regional Campaign Taskforce of the NDC said the venue and time remains the same.
The statement explained that the occasion will still be graced by the Ashanti Regional Minister, John Alexander Akon, the regional Campaign Coordinator and regional Chairman, Yaw Owusu Obimpe as well as high party faithful across the regions and the entire campaign taskforce members.
The statement apologized for the inconvenience caused by the last minute postponement of the event in the region saying “We are aware of the preparations that have started in earnest at the Constituency and at the regional level all the bid to secure a second term in office for the President John Dramani Mahama”.
