It’ll be difficult to have Muslim as president if Nana, Bawumia rejected – Hamid

Spokesperson to the Flagbearer of the largest Opposition party in Ghana, New Patriotic Party, (NPP) Mustapha Hamid has stated that, the chances of Muslims getting leadership in Ghana in the future would be determined by the fate of Dr. Bawumia in this year’s election.

According him, even though he is optimistic of Dr. Bawumia becoming Vice President of Ghana next year, in event that the NPP loses the election because Muslims failed to vote for the party which has one of them as running mate (Dr. Bawumia), it will squash the chances of a Muslim ascending to such high office as people of the Islamic faith failed to appreciate the honour done Bawumia with the position of a running mate.

Mustapha Hamid said this during a rally to launch “Operation 70% agenda ” by the New Juaben South Constituency at Koforidua Zongo market square in the Eastern region.

He however urged Muslims to discount claims by the ruling National Democratic Congress that NPP is anti-Muslims.

“My brothers and sisters Muslims gathered here, we are educating ourselves with the aim of one day becoming the President or Vice President. But we presented our own brother Dr Bawumia twice, in 2008 and 2012 but we did not accept him and help him become the Vice President. For the third time if we reject him, in the future when ever any of us is looking for a high office of the land to occupy, no body will entrust that office into our hands. Because it will be said that Muslims don’t value what is good. I’m also telling you that when NDC comes and says they love Muslims more than the NPP, please ignore them, tell them that is not true,” Mustapha noted.
