Oxford street, is most likely the first place that comes to mind when one hears the name Osu.

Formerly known as Cantonments road, the stretch is also known for its busy nature, particularly at night, serving as hub for popular bars, clubs, and restaurants such as Papaye, Frankies, Kona grills and lounge among others.

Others also know that aside the popular Oxford street, the Black Stars Square, Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum, Osu Castle, Asomdwee Park and Cantonments are major landmarks in the Osu enclave.

That appears to be half of what actually is the fact. Chief Priest of Osu Nadu/ Klottey, Wor-Lumor Nuumo Noi Sekanku Kpenuku II revealed this when he made shocking disclosures about some areas in Accra that fall under Osu on GhanaWeb's People and Places programme.

According to him, Ghana's plush Kotoka International Airport is a monument located in Osu. The assertion, over the years, that the Kotoka International Airport was established on lands owned by the La people of the Ga tribe was squashed by the Wor-Lumor.

He further listed the premier tertiary institution, the University of Ghana, its adjoining road to Haatso, the Achimota school road and the Jubilee House area as major landmarks all situated in Osu.

“We have the airport in Osu, the Jubilee house is in Osu, the lands commission is in Osu. All the ministries that govern Ghana is in Osu. The first university is in Osu, the Cambridge college which we now call the Achimota school is in Osu, ” he stated on GhanaWeb TV.
