Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie claims President John Dramani Mahama has told him he is tired of governing the nation and needs to rest.

The former General Secretary in an interview with host of Onua FM’s ‘Yen Nsem Pa’ morning show Bright Kwesi Asempa said the President is being compelled to campaign because he doesn’t want to be tagged as a failure by his own party members for not making any effort.

Sir John as he is popularly called, was in a buoyant mood during the launch of the NPP manifesto at the Trade Fair Centre in Accra last Sunday were thousands of party faithful converged to offer their support to the party.

He declared, “Ghanaians need change and John Mahama knows it himself because the last time I spoke to him he told me he was tired and needed to rest. “I can tell you he is only doing this because he doesn’t want the NDC to say John you didn’t struggle or didn’t do anything…but trust me he is tired and must go and rest.

He said, “When is saw Nana Akufo-Addo all I could see was a man ordained by God giving a speech motivated by ‘kalyppo’ as compared to some others who talk and all of a sudden feel they are men.

“I prefer Nana Akufo-Addo or someone who is 100 years with wisdom to rule this country as compared to a young man who is always being chased by cows in his dream”.

According to Sir John, the teeming supporters who were present during the launch has given him a clear indication on which direction the people of Ghana are ready to head in the December polls. Nana Afrane Asante/3news.com/Ghana
