The deputy minority leader Dominic Nitiwul has stated claims that a Peki Chief did not endorse the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and was misquoted by the media are untrue.
The Adontenhene of the Peki State and acting President of the Peki Traditional Area Torgbe Ayim Mordey VI on Wednesday denied reports that the Chiefs of Peki endorsed the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akufo-Addo.
At a durbar of Chiefs and people of Peki in Avetile as part of the Chief of Staff Mr. Julius Debrah's campaign tour of the Volta region, the chief minced no words in denying the claim.
Torgbe Mordey VI said: “Regarding the visit of the flag bearer of the NPP it has been carried on a news item on myjoyonline.com that the chief of Peki endorsed NPP. In fact I want to take this opportunity to let the people understand that was never done. The individual involved in this occasion is going to be called and sanctioned for this misconduct. So I want to make you understand that there was no such endorsements by Peki chiefs.”
But speaking on Starr Chat Wednesday, Mr. Nitiwul who is also the Member of Parliament for Bimbilla in the Northern region told host Bola Ray that the Peki chief was never misquoted.
According to him, every single thing said by anybody during Akufo-Addo’s campaign tour is recorded.
“...Every word they have said is recorded and we have them on video, look we are running a professional campaign and we have all of them on tape,” Hon. Nitiwul said.
He added: “I can tell you for a fact that whatever the Chiefs said when Nana Addo visited was recorded, the press secretary of Nana Addo does not write anything that is not said."
