As Philip Atawura was preparing to undergo a kidney transplant in India, he went through a lot that made him question if indeed he was meant to go through with it.

According to Philip who recounted his ordeals, one of the most traumatic experiences that has lived with him after the surgery, until recently, was a moment in the Intensive Care Unit.

Philip explained that the scenes he witnessed during the time were imprinted in his mind and haunted him until about two months ago.

Speaking on a yet-to-be-aired episode of The Lowdown, he said “I was greatly affected psychologically. It got to a time I was even thinking it’s not God’s will for me to have this done.

“I couldn’t even sleep, because I felt like when I close my eyes, I won’t survive to see the next day,” he told GhanaWeb’s Etsey Atisu.

He also described his donor as God-sent, explaining that he left his life behind to travel with him for eight months, the duration of the transplant, preparation and recovery.

The full episode of The Lowdown will be premiered on October 21, 2024, on GhanaWeb TV.
