A former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Freddie Blay, has questioned the source of wealth of the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
According to him, the North Tongu legislator has so much wealth, including very expensive properties, even though he has no history of work before entering into politics.
Blay, who made these remarks in an interview on JoyNews on December 23, 2024, said that he has also been a Member of Parliament like Ablakwa but does not have the kind of wealth the MP has.
He added that while Ablakwa is saying that the source of his wealth is legitimate, he (Ablakwa) is accusing his son, Kwame Blay, of capturing state properties.
“I have worked as a lawyer for 40 years, 40 years! He was not born then. He has property in other places that I can't afford. He has never worked in his life except being a minister and a Member of Parliament - that is all.
“On his own, he has not done any work. I've been a Member of Parliament for 12 years. I have not acquired what he has acquired, but if he says he's acquired it lawfully and yet he tells my children who are working on their own and have nothing to do with government that they have stolen or have acquired property that they are not entitled to, we live to see, mark my words,” he said.
The former NPP National Chairman made these remarks while reacting to an allegation by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa that his son is trying to capture parts of the beachfront of the Labadi Beach Hotel.
