Courage Nobi, the Deputy Director of Policy for the Movement for Change, has accused politicians who maintain side chicks outside their marriages of contributing to the high corruption levels in the country.
According to Nobi, these politicians create an environment where corruption thrives, as they engage in unethical practices to sustain their lavish lifestyles.
Speaking on the state of corruption under the Nana Addo-Dr. Bawumia administration during the discussion segment of The Citizen’s Show on Accra 100.5 FM, hosted by Kwabena Bobie Ansah on Monday, August 16, 2024, Nobi expressed concern that the practice of keeping side chicks is becoming increasingly common among politicians.
He argued that this trend has led many politicians to live beyond their means and has contributed to the erosion of the country’s moral fiber.
Nobi further criticized the fact that some politicians have more than one side chick, which he believes exacerbates the issue of corruption.
He took particular issue with these politicians, stating that their behavior has led to a breakdown in the country’s ethical standards.
The Deputy Director of Policy for the Movement for Change was of the view that politicians with side chicks are extremely corrupt.
Interestingly, Nobi singled out Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the leader of the Movement for Change and an independent presidential candidate endorsed by the Alliance for Revolutionary Change for the December 7, 2024 general election, as an exception.
Despite Kyerematen being a politician, Mr. Nobi claimed that in all the years he has known him, Mr. Kyerematen has never kept a side chick.
Nobi recounted an experience during the New Patriotic Party’s contest to elect a flagbearer for the December 7 polls. He approached a party financier for assistance with Kyerematen’s campaign, only to be bluntly told that the financier does not support candidates who do not keep side chicks.
Nobi emphasized that Mr. Kyerematen is a chaste politician, committed to transforming the country through his Great Transformation Plan.
