The Chief of Achimfo in the Aowin Constituency of the Western North Region, Nana Oppong Panyea II, is optimistic the vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, will be sworn in as the first female vice president of the country.

He stated that the unsurpassed record of the previous NDC administration under former President John Dramani Mahama are compelling reasons for electorates to vote for the party in the pending elections.

According to a report by graphic.com.gh, Nana Panyea II said this when Prof. Naana Jane called on him during a campaign tour of the area.

He acknowledged that while chiefs are not expected to engage in politics, he cannot overlook the fact that the NDC vice presidential candidate is highly qualified for the position, noting that the NDC had helped in the development of the Achimfo community more than any other government in the country's history.

“Chiefs are not barred from telling the truth, which is that Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, from her accomplishments so far, is more than qualified to hold the position of the first female vice president of the country," he said.

During the visit, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the NDC's commitment to bring development to local communities.

She also took the opportunity to explain key elements of the NDC's proposed 24-hour economy.
