Popular Ghanaian activist Ralph St. Williams had a heated confrontation with Ernest Owusu-Bempah, the Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party, over allegations that Ralph's criticism of the government has been fueled by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Ralph, who has been a staunch critic of the government and has participated in numerous demonstrations, was captured in a video shared on social media.
The video shows him walking to confront someone in a vehicle, which Owusu-Bempah was also in.
Ralph is heard telling someone behind the camera that he is a friend of the man he was meeting, who is an NPP politician.
He questions the person, asserting that his ties with the politician do not imply that his criticism of the government is also fueled by the NPP.
Owusu-Bempah, who was in the vehicle, called Ralph to confront him. Ralph jokingly insulted him, which resulted in a heated argument.
Owusu-Bempah accused Ralph of having NDC blood in him, asserting that he knows Ralph's father, who is a member of the party.
Ralph responded by saying, “Leave there… always you are fighting unnecessary fights… hold on, so if my father is an NDC person and he is doing something that is bad, I should do the same because he is my father?”
Owusu-Bempah stated, “So hold on, so if you are leading people who burn and destroy party stuff, do you think it would have been proper if we had released a squad to come after them?”
