Anglican Church appoints new dean

Accra, July 11, GNA - The Reverend Canon Emmanuel Isaac Kpapkpo Addo, Vice President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, has been appointed as Dean of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, a statement issued in Accra said on Tuesday.

A statement signed by Mr Joseph Abbey, Diocesan and Synod Secretary, said Rev. Canon's appointment was announced at the First Session of the 19th Synod of the Accra Anglican Diocese. Rev. Canon Addo, who is the sixth dean of the Cathedral, holds a Master's Degree in Theology and is an alumnus of the Trinity Seminary and University of Ghana.

The statement said the Rev Canon (Prof.) John Pobee, a former Dean of the Ecumenical Institute in Switzerland, had been appointed as Vicar General, in accordance with provisions of the Diocesan Constitution. The statement said Rev. Canon Pobee's distinguished career included being the first and only African to have been president of the International Association of Mission Studies, with its headquarters in Denmark.

The statement said the Synod also recognized the unanimous election of the Chancellor of the Diocese of Accra, Mr S. H. Annancy on the recommendation of the Archbishop and Primate of Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA) as the Provincial Chancellor.
