Some polling station agents and coordinators as well as members of the NPP in Tema and Ashaiman have called on the national executives of the NPP to ensure due diligence is done in the shortlisting of candidates for the position of Municipal and Metropolitan Chief Executives.

This according to them when done will save the party series of mass action by aggrieved persons.

The coordinators who spoke on separate occasions on conditions of anonymity noted that, there are calculated attempt by the regional chairman who doubles as the regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey to plant his favourites at the various Assemblies within the Greater Accra Region.

At a press conference in Ashiman a group calling itself Coalition of Polling station executives said they have been neglected for so long and it is about time the right candidate is brought to Ashaiman as MCE to champion their course and that of the constituency.

The spokesperson of the group, Lious Gyan noted that though the party is considering the previous MCE who is currently the second vice chairman of the Greater Accra Region for the top job, his appointment will not serve the party well as he has lost touch with the grassroots.

Mr Gyan alleged that Mr Okyere when given the position as the MCE of Ashiman cannot expose the rot at ASHMA under the previous administration since his immediate predecessor is his protege.

"There has been series of corruption at ASHMA and we need a strong willed candidate with the best qualifications to come and work and develop Ashaiman"
The group threatened not to work for the party should their preferred and qualified candidate is not given the nod.

In a related development some constituency executives in Ashiman who also spoke on condition of anonymity have also appealed to the party to select the first vice chairman of the Ashaiman constituency, Joseph Ofosu Siaw asnthe MCE for Ashaiman since he has worked hard for the party and has all it takes to lead the party.

"We are of the view that the first vice chairman of the constituency must be given the nod since he really deserve it and has worked hard for the party. Among the 17 executives in the constituency, eleven of us are in support of our first vice chairman likewise the grassroot so we believe when he is given the nod it will serve the party a lot of good"

The executives noted that Mr Siaw has served the party diligently at the constituency level and must be brought on board to serve the party at the Assembly.

"Ashaiman has come of age and all the people need is development so the incoming chief executive must be one that have the ability to bring development to the area and not one that does not know his way out and also come and scatter the gains made in the area over the years"
