The Minister-designate for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah will appear before Parliament’s Appointments Committee today, Tuesday, February 6, 2016, for vetting.

Two other minister-designates are also expected to appear before the committee. They are Mavis Hawa Koomson, minister-designate of Special Development Initiatives, and Awal Ibrahim Mohammed, Minister-designate of Business Development.

Mr. Asiamah, appears before the committee days after the Black Stars failed to break the Nation’s 35 year wait for an AFCON trophy. The Black Stars placed 4th after they lost gto Burkina Faso in the 3rd place play-off on Saturday.

On Monday February 6, the committee vetted Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minister-designate of Parliamentary Affairs, Professor George Gyan-Baffou, Minister-designate for Planning and Catherine Afeku, Minister-designate for Tourism, Culture & Creative Arts, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Majority in Parliament are today expected to use their numbers to push through minister-designate for Gender and Social protection Otiko Afisa Djaba, whose approval is being resisted by the minority.

The minority argues the conduct and utterances of the nominee is unfitting of a minister of state.

They insist she must apologise for her utterances against former President John Mahama during the electioneering.

However, Starr News understands the majority are bent on approving her nomination despite the claims by the minority.
