A state funeral has been held at the forecourt of the State House in Accra for 92 year-old Daniel Ahmling Chapman Nyaho. He was a statesman, retired diplomat and the first African Headmaster of Achimota School. The late Mr Chapman Nyaho was laid to rest at the Osu Cemetery with Military honours.
Among the large crowd of mourners who paid their last respect to Mr Nyaho whose casket was draped in the national colours, were President John Agyekum Kufuor, Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama and ex-President Jerry John Rawlings and his wife.
The three-hour state funeral service, interspersed with cultural displays, and poetry recitals and tributes, was also attended by Ministers of State, members of the Council of State and the Diplomatic Corps, Chiefs, Service Commands as well as old students of Achimota school.
President Kufuor's tribute read by Mr. Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, Minister of Presidential Affairs, described Mr Nyaho as a distinguished statesman who deserved national honours while he was alive.
