Former President Jerry John Rawlings is expected to attend the funeral of Dzifa Gomashie's husband, Brigadier General Martin K.G Ahiaglo (Rtd), who will be buried on Friday, November 1, 2019.
Abla Dzifa Gomashie, the widow, and her children were at the office of former President Rawlings in Accra to officially invite him to the funeral of her late husband who passed on at the 37 Military Hospital on October 8, 2019.
He was once the General Officer Commanding of the Southern Command and Director of National Lotteries Authority (NLA) after his retirement from the military.
The burial service would take place at the Saint Catherine Catholic Church, Burma Camp in Accra and thence to the Military Cemetery for internment.
The family, on Wednesday, 30 October 2019, also called on former President John Dramani Mahama to officially inform him of the funeral arrangements.
Paying tribute to the late General, the former President described the late Ahiaglo as a good manager and disciplinarian, noting that it was a quality he brought to bear at the NLA.
“When I needed someone with strong discipline to take charge of the NLA, the choice naturally fell on him,” Mr Mahama said.
At the residence of the former President were the family, wife of the late Ahiaglo, Madam Dzifa Gomashie, a former Deputy Minister of State, and their children.
Joining the former President to receive the family were Julius Debrah, Prosper Bani, Joyce Bawah Mogtari and Kenneth Adjei.
