First NABCO trainees to begin work August – Akufo-Addo

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, says the first bath for the government’s Nation Builders Corps programme (NABCO) will begin work officially in August 2018.

President Akufo-Addo today May, 1, 2018 launched the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), a programme structured to tackle graduate unemployment in Ghana.

The programme has been designed under seven modules. The Feed Ghana module where people serve as agric extension officers to help our farmers.

Educate Ghana module where people will teach science and mathematics in High schools.

The Revenue Ghana module will take graduates into the Ghana Revenue Authority to help in the collection of revenue. Heal Ghana module where nurses who have been sitting home without jobs after school will be employed.

The Enterprise Ghana module where graduates will be assigned to various private sector enterprises for jobs and skills training as well as development.

The Digitize Ghana module will see graduates being sent to the IT sector for the Digital Ghana agenda, the transformation agenda, where they will be attached to the NIA or to the Ghana Post or to the Birth and Death Registry or to the Land Registry.

Then the Governance Ghana module where people will be attached to various local authorities.

Addressing the general public in a short ceremony to launch the programme, Akufo Addo mentioned that the selected applicants for the program will start receiving training in July and will be officially deployed to commence work by 1st August 2018.

According to the President NABCO as a scheme will focus on creating employment avenues and opportunities to young people who hold diplomas and degrees from accredited tertiary institutions. He added that the program will equip trainees with needed skills.

President Akufo Addo also hinted that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government’s quest to eradicate graduate unemployment will not end with NABCO but will continue through the implementation of the government’s flagship programs such as the one district one factory, one village one dam and the programme for planting for food and jobs.
