During a surprise to the Registrar-General’s Department on Wednesday, the Vice-President practically observed the business registration processes and interacted with a number of people who had come to register their businesses.

The decision by the Vice-President to visit the office of the Registrar-General’s Department unannounced has widely been lauded by many Ghanaians who say the initiative should be continued to ensure keep public institutions on their toes, knowing the President or his Vice could visit anytime.
The Vice-President has, however, assured that such unannounced visits would be extended to other public institutions to ensure efficiency in the public service.
The Rwandan example
Rwanda has emerged a shining example on the continent 15 years after the genocide to embrace compelling models of economic development by building a powerful business friendly environment spurred by advances in technology to lure private investments into that country.
Rwanda has the fewest procedures and processes in the whole of East Africa and possibly the world to register and start a business as it takes less than three days to incorporate a business in that country.
