As deputy-designate to the core representative tasked with the enforcement of the Rule of Law, Human Rights and an efficient and transparent legal system, Godfred Yeboah Dame spoke extensively on matters regarding his portfolio when he made appearance before the Appointments Committee Wednesday March 29 2017.

Mr. Dame, Deputy Attorney General-designate proposed an expansion of the facility of the Ghana school of law to other campuses nationwide to allow more qualified persons access to the Bachelor of Laws program. He however indicated the importance of quality in ensuring the country produces qualified and professional persons in the field.

Speaking on the roles of the Attorney General independently of the Special Prosecutor’s, Mr. Dame indicated that the special prosecutor will strictly prosecute cases of corruption in public office to free the Attorney General the burden of handling such cases.

Regarding the backlog of students who could not make it to the Ghana Law School for want of physical space the deputy Attorney-General-designate attributed the situation to the expansion of the law degree program and also to the manner in which legal education was regulated.

According to him, the situation is being addressed as two more campuses are being opened in Accra to absorb more students.

Godfred Yeboah Dame has a background in Media Law, Constitutional Law, Human Rights, and Company Law. He has served as legal advisor and advocate in many capacities.
