Govt provides C4.5bn for rehabilitation of roads

Assin-Foso (C/R), Aug. 20, GNA- The government has provided 4.5 billion cedis for the rehabilitation of 338 kilometres of roads in the Assin District to facilitate easy transport of foodstuff to the marketing centres.

The roads include the Anwiasu-Abasewase, Appiakrom-Beyeden, Assin-Manso-Breman- Asikuma and Assin-Ngresi-Otabilkrom roads. Mr Kwabena Karikari-Apau, Assin North District Chief Executive, said this at the last ordinary session of the Assin District Assembly on Tuesday.

The Assin South District was inaugurated at its capital, Nsuem-Kyekyewere on Thursday, as a result of the Assin District being split into north and south.

He said 22,400 bags of fertilisers have been distributed through local cocoa buying agencies, while a consignment of 666.6 litres of chemicals have also been provided for the mass spraying of cocoa in the area.

Mr Karikari-Apau urged agricultural extension officers to educate farmers on the appropriate use of fertilisers and how to apply them on their produce.

The Presiding Member, Mr Anthony Arthur called for continued education on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to enable all Ghanaians to avail themselves of improved health care delivery.
