Former Accra Mayor and MP for Ablekuma South Constituency, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije says he will endorse Ex-president Mahama if he decides to run in 2020.
He said Ex-President Mahama is a valuable candidate and the most formidable candidate the party has, insisting he should not be thrown away, rather, should be given a chance to run if he decides to.
Speaking on GH One TV’s breakfast show, GH Today, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, says the party can listen and learn from Former President Rawlings, however, the party will decide at congress if the current leadership should be changed.
“Who do we have in NDC that we will say that is very popular out there, we can market him for 2020?... Given everything that everybody has said, let us put it on and give John Mahama a chance,” he said.
The MP for Ablekuma South Constituency, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije also noted he will fulfill his campaign promise of building a sardine factory in Chorkor to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the constituency.
“The sardine factory for Chokor is in the works,” says Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije.
Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije said he has started addressing the joblessness in his constituency by setting up Tsentse Skill Development Project to provide skills training and make the unemployed employable.
According to him the only requirement needed to benefit from the Tsentse Skill Development Project, the individual must have a positive mindset and see a way out of their situation.
Aside providing them with skills training, Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije says he is working with some microfinance companies to instill in the trainees the habit of saving while taking part in the project. This will make available to them capital to start their own businesses when they graduate after the 6 months period.
He said the training center will be a better alternative for those who purchase the services of game centers.
He said game centers are not well monitored, hence, they allow school going children, even during school hours.
