The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has commented on the commissioning of Prempeh I International Airport by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in Kumasi.

He expressed bewilderment at the president's decision to commission a project that is still under construction.

He suggested that it would have been wiser for the president to wait until the project's completion before opening it for public use, rather than hastily trying to gain political advantage.

"If it had been completed, aeroplanes would have landed there. It's like making fufu without soup and asking us to eat. I've already mentioned that the president's judgment should be examined.

"There are bulldozers working everywhere, and you're telling me it's finished," he stated in a video posted by Nana Yaa Brefo on her Instagram page.

About the commissioning of the airport

The splendid Agyemang Prempeh I International Airport in Kumasi was officially inaugurated on May 10, 2024.

TV3 and GTV Ghana displayed the airport's interior on their X page through a video, highlighting the newly installed facilities available for public use.

The airport's interior is strategically organized into different operational sections, with the majority of staircase walls constructed from glass to enhance the visual experience.

At the entrance, the sign "Nante Yie," which translates to "safe journey," welcomes visitors.

The airport is anticipated to boost the Ashanti Region's international standing and contribute to the economic well-being of the local population.

The launch ceremony was attended by various stakeholders and government agencies, marking the official start of the facility's public operation.

In his speech, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo expressed his delight at the project's completion and addressed sceptics who doubted its fruition.
