LIVESTREAMING: Tamale hosts 62nd Independence Celebrations

The 62nd Independence celebrations is currently underway in Tamale.

The event being held at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in the capital of the Northern Region is the first in 62 years to have been marked outside the capital of Ghana, Accra.

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during his 2019 State of the Nation Address noted that the event forms part of activities to mark the historic peace process achieved in Dagbon after years of tension.

Like all other celebrations, there will be a march pass at the stadium and speeches by the leadership of the country.

This year's event themed; "Celebrating Peace and Unity" has President Akufo-Addo, Ministers of State, Former Presidents including John Dramani Mahama, the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari Mahama II and other chiefs of Dagbon in attendance.

The Overlord of Mamprugu, Nayiri Mahami Bohugu Sheriga, and the Yagbonwura, Tuntumba Boresa I, will also be there to grace the occassion.
