A known New Patriotic Party (NPP) sympathizer and leader of a vigilante group for the party in the Damongo constituency of the Northern region is in grips of the police for stealing two sheep belonging to the Canteen Electoral area chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The vigilante group known as Baafira was launched in the constituency by the leadership of the NPP prior to election 2016 but leader of the group known as Jacob was arrested in the early hours of Monday April 17, 2017 when the police in Damongo had a tip-off of his activities.

Jacob is believed to have stolen and killed the sheep in connivance with others for the naming ceremony of a colleague’s son which was expected to take place today Monday 17th of April 2017.

Upon arrival of the police however, his accomplices fled into the bush and at the time of filing the report had not returned to their homes for fear of being trailed and arrested.

The branch chairman of NDC in the Canteen electoral area, popularly called Nkoshiwura had earlier on complained of the rampant disappearance of his sheep on daily basis and had on several occasions made announcements in the Canteen Central mosque to pray for those behind the act to be exposed. Luck however eluded Jacob and his gang when they were caught right in the act on Monday morning.

He is set to be arraigned before court later this week.
