The Majority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament (MP) for Sunyani East, Hon Kwesi Ameyaw-Kreremeh, has confirmed that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nothing against the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mrs. Charlotte Osei.

Mr. Kyeremeh made the clarification in response to allegations made by Hon. Haruna Iddrisu of the opposition of National Democratic Congress (NDC) claiming that the Akufo-Addo led government is responsible for what is happening at Ghana’s Electoral Headquarters.

Mrs. Charlotte Osei is being accused of corruption by some people believed to be workers of the Electoral Commission.

On Kumasi-based Agyenkwa FM, the lawmaker said, “every Ghanaian has the right to go to court if he thinks activities of some leaders can jeopardize the development of the nation as far as democracy is concerned”.

Adding that, the first two articles in the constitution charges all citizens to defend the state therefore he sees nothing wrong with the concerned workers of the EC taking their boss to face the law.

“This has nothing to do with the NPP, the case was filed by concerned workers from the EC office, and therefore, nobody can accuse the party”. He explained.

However, Mr. Kyereme admitted that, he personally spoke against some actions by the EC boss concerning how she handled the limited registration process but observed that after the elections, President Akufo Addo congratulated her for her good job indicating that the party has nothing against her.
