The Minister for Gender and Social Protection Madam Otiko Afisa Djaba is hopeful that no woman will ever be subjected to the kind of vetting she underwent in the hands of the parliamentary vetting committee.

She indicates that members of the committee went very personal in their line questioning with most of them being prejudiced.

The National Women’s Organiser of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) who had a hectic time with the vetting committee and subsequent approval on the floor of parliament, has expressed hope that women nominated in the future should not suffer the way she did.

“Nobody should go through that kind vetting again. Men must learn to respect women and if Ghana is to accelerate and develop equally or at a fast rate, we must have women as partners and not as subordinates. Our men and women must accept the new Ghanaian woman. She must be confident and understand issues the same way she carries her baby through nine months of labour. I have been looking to give birth to the new Ghanaian woman. I represent the new Ghanaian woman”, he said.

She urged men not to be prejudiced towards women but learn to tolerate and assist them to contribute significantly to the development of the country.
