A former Ashanti Regional Minister and former minister of chieftaincy and culture under the erstwhile John Agyekum Kufour’s administration, Sampson Kwaku Boafo, has hailed the appointment of Simon Osei - Mensah as regional minister designate.

Mr Osei- Mensah who served two terms as Member of Parliament (MP) for Bosomtwe had his hopes of returning to Parliament dashed when he lost his bid in the primaries of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Apart from his active involvement in the running of the party, he served ably on parliament’s health committee and on the African Parliament.

He was mentioned Tuesday, by President Nana Akufo Addo among his nominees for regional ministerial positions.

Speaking to Ultimate News’ Ivan Heathcote – Fumador, SK Boafo described Mr Osei -Mensah as a “no nonsense man who does not give up and a man who supports the party strongly.”

“He should be able to do well and that is why the president has nominated him. But not until he comes to deliver, and his performance is assessed, I think so far he is the best,” he commended.

Giving his advice for the nominee who is likely to assume office after vetting and approval, he submitted that the nominee recognizes that the region is a strong hold of the party.

He also asked that Mr Osei -Mensah develops enough tolerance for party people and engenders a good relationship with all assemblies “especially the KMA, if he wants to succeed.”
