The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has appealed to Ghanaians to demonstrate a high sense of patriotism, maturity, and love for humanity during the pending December 2024 general elections.

Speaking at an election preparation program organized by the Trades Union Congress in Accra, Dr. Dampare emphasized the crucial role that both security agencies and citizens play in ensuring a smooth and peaceful electoral process.

He reassured the public that the security agencies are fully prepared to uphold law and order throughout the elections, but said that the cooperation of all stakeholders is essential for success.

"The security agencies are ready for the elections, ready to keep the peace, ready to secure the country, and ready to ensure law and order. And all that we have to do as citizens is to play our part, and all other stakeholders must do is to play their part," Dr. Dampare affirmed.

Highlighting the significance of collective responsibilities, Dr. Dampare outlined three fundamental principles that should guide Ghanaians throughout the electoral process: maturity, patriotism, and love for humanity.

He stressed the importance of maturity across all age groups, emphasizing the need for individuals to approach the elections with a calm and rational mindset.

"Patriotism towards the nation is crucial such that we put Ghana first and prioritize the interests of our country above all else. Additionally, we need to demonstrate love for humanity, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every individual," Dr. Dampare remarked.
