Re: AKUFFO ADDO IS CREATING ENEMIES FOR AKANS !!!

It has come to the notice of the independent and responsible youth of the great Ashanti kingdom (Ashanti Youth Platform) that some political tools within the NDC have decided to, from time-to-time; hide behind generalized names of ASHANTI to propagate messages of their political interest.

The seriousness of this issue is, not every Ashanti youth is an NDC nor politically inclined.

To mention but a few, just about within a month, a demonstration rocked the city of Kumasi under the name MOVEMENT FOR BETTER GHANA whose leadership included Michael Adusei as well as Brogya Gyamfi.

These same people have come out with other stronger names: ASHANTI YOUTH CAUCUS (AYC) and ORGANISED YOUTH OF ASHANTI (OYA), which they have been using to beleaguer the purported “ALL DIE BE DIE” comment by the flag bearer of the NPP. In all these, we would want to respect their rights to opinions and associations but, to caution them to avoid dragging the name Ashanti into the affairs of their political discourse.

In a similar development these guys have also issued press statements in the name of AYC and OYA on the Ghanaweb and some other electronic media.

We wish to state without any fear of contradiction that both Adusei and Brogya Genfi, together with their cohorts are active and known NDC guys.

For clarity, Brogya Genfi contested the position of Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC and lost miserably while Adusei also lost in his bid to occupy the seat of Propaganda Secretary of the same party in the Ashanti Region.

We would not have had any problem if these NDC paid spokespersons had spoken in their known colours.

If for any reason the allegiance they pay to Mrs. Konadu Agyeman Rawlings other than President Mills, as we know is causing their submerge in the NDC, we don’t want them to hide behind the corporate image of Ahanti Youth to announce themselves.

After all, no Ashanti Youth would be proud to be led by a character like Brogya Genfi who can forge a University Certificate under the pretext that He has acquired a university degree from Spain when we all know he is a Diploma in Business Studies (DBS) drop-out at Kumasi Polytechnic.

The youth of Ashanti have been best organized under the Ashanti Students Union (ASU) for a long time. In order to keep ourselves together, we have established the ASHANTI YOUTH PLATFORM which in all fairness of belongingness and dignity, seeks to promote the self –interest of the Ashanti Kingdom.

We never take political sides but pursue the agenda of positive development under any successive government. We do not give special respect to any political party against others.

We have over the years enjoyed monumental benefits from different governments as exemplified by the institution of KNUST under President Nkrumah, the Construction of Abuakwa to Bibiani Road by Dr Busia, Establishment of the Afia Kobi Senior High School at Trebuom by General Acheampong.

Former President Rawlings’ regime constructed a number of roads for the region, President Kufuor’s Accident and Emergency centers at KATH, Asafo Interchange as well as our prestigious Kejetia reconstruction are all monumental. Under President Mills, we are expecting a lot. From this premise, we believe every party is a party.

We would therefore, want to, in great humility and sincerity; erase the assertion that all Ashanti youth belong to one political party.

We further want to render our unqualified apology to any political leader now and the past that has been unfairly treated under any name synonymous to Ashanti Youth.

We would further want to distant ourselves from the claim by these groups. After all, the name AKAN is not the same as ASHANTI.
