As a hydration company, Voltic (GH) Limited (Voltic) understands the need of a sufficient safe, clean and accessible water to meet basic human needs.
This underpins Voltic’s Water for School Programme in line with its sustainability focus on water stewardship in partnership with Jaldhaara Foundation ensuring the provision of free potable water to over 3000 pupils in six (6) basic schools in the country.
Celebrating this year’s World Water Day with a Water Health & Sanitation (WASH) Programme in Nsawam M/A Basic School, one of the beneficiary schools, Ms. Francisca Bart-Addison, Regulatory Affairs Specialist of Voltic stressed the company’s commitment towards refreshing Ghana everyday while making the country a better place for, through the production and sale of safe, affordable and quality drinking water.
She mentioned, besides the production and sale of quality natural mineral water, Voltic is also interested in creating a greater shared value for our customers and communities we serve across our value chain. We are immensely excited about the impact this programme has had on the lives of these school children since September 2018 when we launched the Water for School programme in partnership with Jaldhaara Foundation.
Through the programme, Voltic provides a daily supply of clean drinking water to 5 basic schools. A fully mechanized borehole has been donated to Anoff Basic School near Adeiso in the Eastern region. These pupils which hitherto had no access to safe drinking water can now rely on the water provided through the Voltic’s Corporate Social Responsibly dubbed The 3Ws , demonstrating their commitment towards ‘#leaving no one behind’.
Voltic is by this gesture is fulfilling its mandate of leaving no one behind as the over 3000 pupils in these 6 beneficiary schools will no longer have to rely on irregular tap water, dry boreholes and untreated rain water – which is sometimes contaminated, instead they will be able to focus on learning at school while Voltic serve them clean drinking water. As they imbibe good hygiene and be better stewards of water.
Since the inception of the programme, 400,000 litres of clean water have been provided to over 3000 pupils of the 6 beneficiary schools, including Nsawam M/A Basic School, Ayeduase R/C Basic School, Suhum M/A Basic School, Adeiso S.D.A Basic School, Medie M/A Basic School and Anoff Basic School.
As a company that is continuously refreshing Ghanaians with quality water, Voltic acknowledges that access to clean water is a vital human right that impacts the enjoyment of other rights. Recognizing the direct impact access to clean water and WASH education programmes directly have on school attendance; number of contact hours; and concentration during these contact hours.
Given that statistics shows that 5 million Ghanaians do not have access to safe water. The Water for School Programme is Voltic’s contribution to bridging this gap as the Company joins the United Nations to fulfil Goal 6 of the Sustainable Development Goals on clean water and sanitation as the world celebrates World Water Day under the theme ‘#leaving no one behind’.
