Head coach of Hearts of Oak Frank Elliot Nuttall says his side is steadily getting into their stride after their victory over Great Olympics on Sunday.

The Phobians needed a late goal from defender Inusah Musah to beat city rivals Great Olympics 2-1 after Paul Acquah’s early opener had been cancelled out by Benjamin Arthur in the first half.

Nevertheless, the club’s trainer Frank Nuttall believes his outfit is gradually gaining grounds as the season gathers pace.

“It was a very difficult game and exactly what I envisaged from the start,” Nuttall told accraheartsofoaksc.com.

“Of course, every team in the league wants to fight against Accra Hearts of Oak because we are a big club and every game is a cup final. But we showed a good mentality and that is what I expect and I was very pleased with the outcome.

“We started very well and got a goal; we had some chances before that and the tempo was very good but that’s what I was asking from the players. The movements were very good off the ball. But I do not think we took our foot off the gas.”

“I think maybe we lost just a bit of concentration at certain times and failed to do the basics properly. I think we went through a period where we made a few mistakes. But I think it comes with the challenge that the players have because they are Hearts of Oak players and they want to please everyone; they do not want to make mistakes and they had to just stay calm."

Hearts will hope to continue from where they left off on Sunday when they play as guests to Tema Youth in week 7 of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
