NDC is not anti-Christ – Tony Aidoo

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of trying to portray it as an anti-Christian and anti-God entity.

According to the Committee for Setting the Record Straight, the NPP is manipulating the sentiments of various institutions, especially the church, against the NDC.

Speaking at a press briefing, the Head of Policy Monitoring and Evaluation at the Castle, Dr Tony Aidoo, said the opposition NPP have succeeded in pitching the media and the church against the NDC.

Dr. Aidoo’s comments follow a series of public debates over the airing of the sermons of Pastor Mensah Otabil, an action he [Pastor Otabil] says were without his consent.

Pastor Otabil, last week at a press conference expressed his discontent at the airing of the commercials which he said had been doctored for partisan political purposes. He called on the President to call his party supporters to order.

The President, John Dramani Mahama, has however distanced himself from the commercials.

The Christian Council of Ghana has also issued a statement to urge the group to desist from using Pastor Otabil’s voice in the commercial.

According to Dr. Aidoo however, the NPP was behind a plot to showcase the NDC as a party working against the church.
