Prez and Veep have questions to answer on their CVs - Young Patriots

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Young Patriots have revealed that Presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama and running mate, Kwesi Amissah Arthur both have serious question marks on their curriculum vitae (CV).

Addressing a press conference on Monday, the group disclosed that after some digging, they found major loopholes in the educational achievements of both the President and his vice.

The announcement follows question marks raised by an NDC group, Research and Advocacy Platform, questioning the reasons why NPP Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo persistently omitted his Oxford University credentials from his CV.

Below is the full statement

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen of the media. Thank you very much for accepting this invitation at such short notice. This press conference has been called to bring to fore the fact that both President Mahama and Vice- President Amissah-Arthur have both got huge question marks on their CV's

Starting with Vice-President Amissah-Arthur, the Young Patriots state here and now that Mr. Amissah-Arthur never attained an M Sc. in economics in 1980 from the University of Ghana, Legon. The Daily Graphic of Monday, August 6, 2012 on page 16 paragraph 17 states "At University of Ghana, Legon, he obtained B.Sc (Economics) in 1974 and M. Sc (Economics) in 1980. His thesis was on "Public Policy and Economics growth: A model of economic growth Ghana, 1956 - 1974."

Ladies and gentlemen of the media, our checks at the University of Ghana indicate that Vice President Amissah- Arthur never graduated with an M.Sc in Economics from the University in 1980. His name is neither in the year group nor is the University aware of his self-claimed graduation in the said subject and in that year.

This brings a lot in terms of fraud to the table. The question is, did the Vice President defraud the University of Ghana with a fake M.Sc degree to be given lectureship in the 1980's?

The Vice President became Deputy Minister of Finance and subsequently governor of Bank of Ghana based on the CV; it is our contention that he deceived the public and indeed defrauded the Ghanaian people into entrusting him with such a high office.

The Young Patriots are demanding an official statement from the Vice President himself to clear the air on his fake M.Sc degree.

Should he fail to clear the air, we will deem it necessary in the public interest to pursue the matter further by any means necessary to safeguard the interest of the people of Ghana.

On the matter of the President of the Republic of Ghana, it is a matter of fact that the system of education in Ghana in the 1970's required one to proceed from primary school to middle school and then to secondary school.

The Young Patriots are reliably informed by the classmates of the President that they sat in the same class with him in Tamale Bishops Middle School. He was in Form One A in 1970 - 1971. We will be very glad if the President can account for his time at Bishop middle school in the stated period.

Ladies and gentlemen, classmates of the President at Bishop's middle school have intimated that the period is conspicuously missing from his CV because he and two others were allegedly dismissed for a sexual offense. The nature and details of the said offense is too gory and sordid to be repeated at this press conference.

In the interest of probity, accountability and transparency, it is just fair for us to question the President as to whether he is the John Dramani that was dismissed for sexual offenses at Bishops Middle School?

If not, why is it that Bishop Middle school, which is higher than Achimota Primary in terms of certification is not mentioned in his CV, whilst Achimota Primary, which is an educational institution that does not give any certificates found space in his CV?

Lastly, we advise the President and the NDC to concentrate on the major policy issues that have engulfed the electoral campaign and stop the personality attacks. Ghana is better with the battle of ideas rather than the battle of personalities.

God bless our homeland Ghana.

Thank you.

Signed
