The hour cometh: The decision is Thine!!!

Fellow Ghanaians, Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters; in a few hours, we SHALL be going to the polls to decide the future direction of our beloved Motherland.

My political colouration is very obvious, but I am putting my thoughts into words as a Ghanaian who wants to see this country stand on solid legs for, years, decades, and centuries to come.

In 2008, the contest was between the very affable, learned, humble, forgiving, nation-loving, and God-fearing Professor John Evans Atta Mills, and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Majority of Ghanaians decided; and the learned legal luminary and law professor was given the mandate to manage the affairs of state and to commit himself to building a Better Ghana.

In all honesty, and truth be told, His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills committed himself to breathing life into his love for this dear country of ours and indeed, spent all his time working for God and Country.

For those who bought into the vile propaganda that President Atta Mills did no work during the period he was given the mandate to manage the affairs of state, in death, it became abundantly clear that under the watch of our late President, a lot of UNPRECEDENTED work was done.

Come Friday, December 07, 2012, the contest will be between His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Once again, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is presenting himself to us the electorate, to give him the mandate to RULE Ghana.

I use the word RULE, because that is what the NPP Flagbeaer and his aides continue to communicate by word and deed.

The NPP Flagbearer and his aides do not lose any opportunity to make us feel that were born to RULE and that given the opportunity, they will indeed RULE and lord it over the rest of us.

Sadly, Akufo-Addo has learnt no lessons, and has adopted the same repulsive posture that he adopted in 2008.

In 2008, majority of Ghanaians proved to Akufo-Addo that we do not owe him a duty to vote for him to become President and it is ipso facto that come December 07, majority of Ghanaians will once again sing the same tune.

Because a leopard can NEVER change its spots, the NPP Flagbearer continues to strut around wearing a big placard with the inscription “I Was Born To Be President Of Ghana And I Will Become President At All Cost”.

Ever since he got the mandate to once again lead the NPP, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given a lot of us cause to believe that in the unlikely event that he gets the mandate to RULE, Ghana will become a fragmented state.

Countless opportunities have knocked on the door of Nana Akufo-Addo begging him to shed off his war regalia and feed his soul with some broth of humility but the NPP Flagbearer has spat in the face of every such opportunity.

With a spirit that has failed to accept the reality that majority of Ghanaians in their collective wisdom chose to give President John Evans Atta Mills the mandate to manage the affairs of state, Akufo-Addo continues to brazenly offend the sensibilities of well-meaning Ghanaians.

Leading by a very bad example, Nana Akufo-Addo was the first to sound the war bells with his “All Die Be Die” blood-thirsty oration.

Taking a line from the war song of their Leader, scores of NPP apparatchiks and militants, have been singing all kinds of dangerous war songs.

If it is not Anthony Karbo swearing that there will be “Afghanistan” in Ghana if the EC does not declare Akufo-Addo winner, then it is Sammy Awuku asking young militants to arm themselves with “wormafunu” (used pestles) and crush the skulls and mouths of NDC operatives.

If it is not Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey inciting Ashantis to go to war as their kit and kin did in Cote d’Iviore (very questionable logic though), then it is Kennedy Agyepong asking Akans to murder and annihilate Ewes and Gas.

If it is not Ursula Owusu wearing “All Die Be Die” T-shirts and insulting President Atta Mills and President John Mahama, then it is Frances Essiam who will be on the airwaves using unprintable language and calling for war.

In all these; and in spite of the heavy outcry from well-meaning Ghanaians, Akufo-Addo has not found it proper to at least attempt to be condemning the unacceptable misconduct of his people.

Come to think of it, how can Akufo-Addo condemn his people, when he has not condemned himself?

So, unable to condemn himself and his people, Akufo-Addo has opened the floodgates of violence to the extent that some of his supporters can dare attempt to prevent President John Mahama from visiting Akufo-Addo’s hometown.

Akufo-Addo can go to Gonja Land and freely urinate on mosques, but President John Mahama cannot go to Kyebi and campaign; is that the kind of Ghana we want to build?

It is pretty obvious that Akufo-Addo is only pretending to be a Christian in a desperate attempt to win Christians to his side because if he was spending time reading the bible, he will come across the words of Ecclesiastics 9 verse 18, which says; “Wisdom is better than weapons of war.”

As the Leader of the NPP, Akufo-Addo has chosen to anchor his beliefs to weapons of war instead of relying on heavenly wisdom and that is what is going to be his undoing.

For the records, President John Mahama has on at least two occasions (the Presbyterian Church and ICGC matter), shown astute leadership qualities and put those issues to rest.

If only Akufo-Addo had an iota of the leadership qualities of President Mahama, he would not be sinking under his own weight of haughty obstinacy. I am not really bothered about which school Akufo-Addo attended or whether he got a First Class or Third Class.

I am seriously worried about the future of this dear country of ours under the watch of Akufo-Addo.

Obviously, having gotten the rare opportunity to work closely with His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills, and knowing the extent to which he dug his feet in, and worked tirelessly to resuscitate an asphyxiated economy as well as restore honour and dignity to the image of Mother Ghana and the Presidency, I shudder to imagine all the hard work going down the drain in the unlikely event that Akufo-Addo succeeds in foisting himself on the nation.

Are we going to go back to days when Ghana was known as the “Cocaine Coast?” Are we going to go back to the days when the Castle was the pivot around which kickbacks revolved?

Are we going to go back to the days of “Survival of the fittest”; such that 9&10 year old girls will be openly smoking and practicing prostitution at ‘Soldier Bar”?

Are going to go back to the days when Sakawa and 419 were the order of the day?

Are we going to go back to days when morality was thrown to the dogs and the conscience of the nation destroyed?

My people, what kind of Ghana will we bequeath to our children and children’s children if we make a mistake and allow a group of, property-owning, property-grabbing, kickback-collecting, and nation-wrecking politicians to RULE in this dear land of our birth?

Of course they are also Ghanaians but the number of Ghanaians who mean well for this nation far outnumber those who want power “At All Cost” so they can loot and plunder the nation’s oil and gas resources.

Fellow Ghanaians, Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters; can you imagine a Government made up of, family members, cronies and paramours such as, Nana Asante Bedietuo, Nana Fredua Ofori-Atta, Samuel Atta Akyea, Gabby Asare Otchere-Darko, Ursula Owusu, Nana Yaa Ofori-Atta, Frances Essiam, Ken Ofori-Atta, Sir John, Sammy Awuku, Anthony Karbo, Kennedy Agyepong and co? Can you imagine Jake Obetsebi Lamptey coming back as the Chief of Staff at the Presidency?

I have woken up several times in the middle of the night wondering the kind of dangerous realms in which this beloved country of ours will be orbiting, in the unlikely event that the above-mentioned get the opportunity to RULE Mother Ghana.

My people, are you getting the kind of picture that I am painting? Are you prepared to allow Akufo-Addo and the above-mentioned persons to RULE and destroy Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana?

After all the effort that Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and dedicated nationalists put into building a united Ghana; and after the effort that successive Presidents put into walking the path of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, are we prepared to hand over the destiny and future of our beloved country to ego-driven persons who will live like Arabian Kings, and turn the rest of us into slaves and second class citizens?

Indeed, after all the unyielding effort that President Atta Mills put into changing the face of governance and moving away from the politics of vilification and vindictiveness, are we prepared to hand over the nation to Akufo-Addo and his “All Die Be Die” brigade who have never hidden their voracious appetite for political separatism?

Do we want to hand this nation over to a group of persons who are drenched and ensconced in fanning ethnic hatred tribal conflict?

Do we want to go back to the brutish days of the beheading of the Overlord of Dagbon, Yaa-Naa Yakubu Andani II in broad daylight, and with the connivance of the sitting government?

My people, did we come this far only to go back into the dark days of our struggle to build a united nation?

By the Grace of God, I had the opportunity to see His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills spend every second of his time as President, working strenuously to build a Better Ghana and lead Ghana on the path of growth and righteousness.

By the Grace of God, I had the opportunity to see Vice President John Dramani Mahama stretch every sinew to support President John Evans Atta Mills to build a Better Ghana.

By the Grace of God, I am seeing His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama work very hard to lead Ghana on a path of acceptable growth and development, and in the period that he has been in-charge of the affairs of state, it is more than obvious that he deserves to be given the mandate to move Ghana forward in the right direction.

The race is not for the swiftest; but for the sturdiest! Indeed, the race is not for ultra Right-wing politicians who out of desperation are swinging to the far Left of the political spectrum and promising that everything will be FREE under their watch.

President Atta Mills and President Mahama have proven that they have the kind of shoulders on which the heads of Presidents rest on. For a fact, they have proven that they have the kinds of heads that build nations.

For sure, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has played his part on Ghana’s political landscape to the point of leading the NPP into two elections.

As a member of the UP Tradition, Nana Akufo-Addo can pat himself on the back for working his way up to the very top of his party.

Unfortunately for Nana Akufo-Addo, it is quite apparent that he SHALL not be able to work himself to the highest office of the land because of his own attitude and stomach-turning posturing.

Maybe, if Akufo-Addo had not spurned the countless opportunities that have come his way to drop his war robes, he may have touched a few more hearts and minds.

Just as God could not find only a few righteous people in Sodom and Gomorah in order to save the two cities from destruction, so can majority of the electorate not find a single sign of penitence in Akufo-Addo in order to save his political career from destruction.

Nana Akufo-Addo is most certainly singing his swansong and it is my hope that as he walks through the twilight of his journey in the world of politics, he will take time to playback his style and ways, and wake up to the realisation that, “arrogance and haughty pride taketh a man nowhere”.

I wish Nana Akufo-Addo well in retirement and hope that lots of the young NPP militants who took inspiration from the extremely “bad company” of their mentor, will rethink their political orientation and move onto a more refined and acceptable pedestal of politicking.

I am no clairvoyant or seer; but I could see victory walk the way of Professor John Evans Atta Mills in 2008 because of his humble and affable nature, and I can say with a strong measure of certainty that victory is walking the way of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama because just like his departed boss, he is also reaching out to the hearts and minds of majority of Ghanaians with his humble and affable nature.

Truth be told; the NDC Government has delivered heavily on its manifesto promises, of, Investing in People, Expanding Infrastructure, Building a Strong and Resilient Economy, Creating Jobs, and Governing in an Open Honest and Transparent manner, and His Excellency President John Mahama is winning souls by humbly and realistically assuring the electorate that he will Advance The Better Ghana Agenda.

Fellow Ghanaians, Fathers and Mothers, Brothers and Sisters; the future and destiny of this beloved Motherland of ours lies in the bosom of your thumbs.

Friday presents us with another bright opportunity to vote for progress and nation-building, and not for retrogression and arrogance laced with bigotry/ divisiveness.

If for any reason you do not care about yourself, PLEASE care about our children and our children’s children and vote massively for His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for him to continue with the good work that His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills began.

May the Good Lord grant us human existence on Friday so we exercise our franchise to the glory of His holy name.

Ghana is the only Home we have; let us vote to build the Better Ghana that our generation and future generations will be proud of.

God bless each and every one of us and may He continue to make our nation great and strong.

My people, I rest my thoughts here for now and thank you very much for taking time off to comb through my line of thinking. THE HOUR COMETH: THE CHOICE IS THINE!!!!
