Over 5m Ghanaians in Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions to vote on Friday

A total of 5,349,696 eligible Ghanaian voters in Greater Accra and Ashanti regions are expected to exercise their franchise on Friday to choose a President, and their Parliamentarians, information obtained from the Electoral Commission’s (EC) official website has indicated.

It said 2,792,576 voters would vote in 4,114 polling stations across the Greater Accra Region, while 2,557,122 eligible voters in Ashanti region would cast their votes in 4,628 polling stations in the region.

According to the EC, while 364,489 voters in the Upper West region would be voting in 944 polling stations, there would be 565,097 Ghanaians in Upper East region who would cast their votes in 1,136 polling stations.

The EC stated that there would be 2,386 polling stations for 1,263,462 voters in the Northern region to decide for a president and their parliamentarians, whiles in Brong Ahafo region, 1,245,954 voters would be expected to cast their votes in 2,740 polling stations.

The Commission noted that 1,156,740 eligible voters in Volta region were likely to cast their votes in 2,283 polling stations, with 1,429,682 Ghanaian voters in the Eastern region voting in 2,961 polling station.

The EC further stated in Central region there would be 2,192 polling stations for 1,231,513 voters to exercise their voting rights, whereas in Western region 1,425,158 voters would do same in 2,618 polling stations.

This means that 14,031,793 eligible Ghanaian voters would be expected to turn out in 26,002 polling stations to vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections on Friday.
