C/R records 44,355 rejected ballots

A total of 44,355 ballots were rejected in both the presidential and parliamentary votes cast in all the 23 constituencies of the Central Region.

In the presidential polls a total of 26,565 votes were rejected whiles 17,790 votes were rejected for the parliamentary.

The Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency recorded the highest number of rejected votes with 2,649 in the presidential polls followed by Mfantsiman with 1,848, Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa recorded1,648 whiles Awutu-Senya-West and Agona West recorded 1,584 and 1,434 rejected votes respectively.

The others are Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam which had 1,413 rejected votes, Gomoa West registered 1,400, Twifo-Atti-Morkwaa recorded 1,354, Agona East recorded 1,306, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese 1,302, Assin North 1,225, Assin South 1,106 and Ekumfi recorded 918 rejected votes.

The rest are Effutu with 821 rejected votes, Upper Denkyira East- 818, Assin Central -793, Hemang-Lower-Denkyira-765, Gomoa East- 762, Gomoa Central- 730, Upper Denkyira West- 714, Awutu Senya East- 709, Cape Coast South -651 and Cape Coast North had the least rejected votes of 615 in the presidential polls.

In the parliamentary polls KEEA again recorded the highest rejected votes of 1,888 votes, Asikuma-Odoben –Brakwa recorded 1,139, Mfantsiman -1,137, Awutu-Senya-West- 1,075, Agona West- 996, Gomoa West- 968, Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam- 967, Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese- 925 and Twifo-Atti-Morkwaa recorded 903 rejected votes.

The others are Agona East- 817, Assin North -809, Assin South- 768, Ekumfi- 585, Effutu- 578, Upper Gomoa East and Awutu-Senya-East had 555 each and Denkyira East recorded 534.

The rest are Gomoa Central- 493, Hemang-Lower-Denkyira- 466, Assin Central- 453, Upper-Denkyira West- 449, and Cape Coast North -390 with Cape Coast South recording the least rejected votes of 340 votes in the Parliamentary polls.

A total of 251,720 votes were rejected nation-wide.
