Mahama applauds security services for supervising peaceful polls

The President elect John Mahama has applauded the collaborative effort displayed by the various security agencies in ensuring a peaceful elections in 2012.

The President John Mahama made the observation when he addressed members of the army, navy, air force, police, prisons and other allied security agencies earlier today.

This was after hundreds of personnel had embarked on a route march on some principal streets in the capital earlier today.

The exercise, which officials say was to foster the close relations between the personnel, was simultaneously carried out across the ten regions in the country.

In the Ashanti regional capital Kumasi, Erastus Asare Donkor of LUVFM joined the security personnel on the exercise.

He reported the Ashanti Regional Police Commander DCOP Augustine Gyaning as saying the march is to announce the presence and determination of the security agencies in protecting life and property.

The Regional Minister in an address said the nation is grateful to the security services for supervising a peaceful election.

In the Northern region, the Regional Minister, Moses Magbengba also commended the security agencies in the region for their gallant performance in maintaining law and order during and after the 2012 general elections.

Matina Bugri of Radio Justice said the march was successful.

Director of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces Col. Mbawine Atintande told Joy News the exercise strengthens the cohesion between the various security services.
