Appiah happy to see his Black Stars show up

Kwesi Appiah is confident the Black Stars can still improve as they closed in on the quarter-finals of the African Nations Cup with 1-0 win against Mali.

Mubarak Wakaso scored from the spot in the 37th minute to take Ghana above Mali in the Group B standings with four points from their opening two matches.

Ghana dominated Mali and the performance has convinced Appiah that his side have more offer.

“Tactically, the team was much disciplined and there was no loss of concentration,” Appiah said after the match.

The win by the Black Stars, who play Niger in the final group game on Monday was a big stride towards the knockout stages.

“We've still got a lot to offer and can do better in our next games.”

Appiah says a variation of tactics proved successful for Ghana seeing his team concede a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 against DR Congo in the previous game.

"We sought to try and change the tactics for an opponent with a different style of play," Appiah said. "It proved successful."
