NPP boycott is to serve partisan interests- Young Democrats

The Young Democrats, a pro-NDC group, has welcomed the call by Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) and the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rescind its parliamentary vetting boycott decision.

They said the NPP parliamentarians were elected there to serve their constituents who are not only NPP supporters but composed of the entire fabric of the Ghanaian political entity hence their role is needed in parliament to safe guard every interest.

Mr Carlos Albert Kojo Yeboah, the Operations Director of the group, said the NPP members of parliament were voted to help make meaningful laws and help to check and prevent arbitrariness on the part of the executive but now that they are not there, who would take care of the needs of the minority,- “their stance is unnecessary, totally unnecessary”.

He said how would the pertinent needs of the NPP constituencies be sorted if their elected representatives have decided not to partake in the vetting of the Minister nominated to superintend the affairs of their constituency.

Mr Yeboah said the call of AFAG and the GBA is in the right direction for the NPP to rescind its decision so that we can continue to build upon our democratic foundations.
