I also thought that the NPP needs to know that it does not help them in their bid to get the votes of non-Akan regions of Ghana by insulting ewes as Trokosi and calling Northerners "Pepeni". But on second thoughts, it is better to leave them in their stupidity!

You see, these people are hypocrites. There is no need to force them to pretend that they respect people when in their hearts they have nothing but contempt for them! Allow them to keep showing us their true colours. That is the easiest way to make sure the elephant stays in the bush!

The Nweah could have been a name of an elderly someone his father later chose for him. Unlike asantes Nzemas do not run around calling every dumbass Nana. Nzema names are full of energy and essential meaning as well as portraying ones life's purpose. It is usually at school age, when one begins to use Christian names along with our family or Father's name. So there is nothing wrong with him being called Nkrumah, like the oppositional logic again would like to proscribe.

According to his own autobiography his teacher was the one who misspelled his name as Ngolomah to be later rectified. The name Nkrumah in Nzema/ Twi, means 'tree trunk, Kneecap, support, helper etc. In the olden days special tree trunks were left along paths to villages where load carriers, especially women rested their loads to relieve their necks. So my dear friend, Nkrumah's name itself was a prophecy, he relieved our burden or took on our yoke like Christ. In fact, the structure behind his statue at the mausoleum is the same 'Tree Trunk' or stop-ender, I have just explained. Don't feel sorry for yourself if you cannot understand a name from a tradition you are unfamiliar with. Thank you. Nyonra the right pronunciation of Nweah means ninth born. Nkrumah was an only child, therefore that must have been a given name too.

When I first came to London, because of a distant uncle who had come to the UK a few decades earlier, I got to meet many Ghanaians, mostly from the Greater Accra, Central and Western Regions, who had come to the UK in the 1940s and 50s ostensibly to study, mostly law and accountancy, and return to Ghana. Most of them never made it back to Ghana, and many are now resting peacefully , bless their souls, in unmarked graves in various parts of London.

Sometimes when my mind wanders and I think of those people,I ask myself what would have happened to Kwame Nkrumah and Ghana, if Dr. Ako Adjei had not been ale to persuade Paa Grant to buy a return ticket for Kwame Nkrumah and house and feed him in Saltpond for over a year?

There are many Ghanaians that find themselves in similar situations in parts of Europe and North America. May be we ought to start thinking of such people. Who knows?

When we have thieves parading as leaders who do not hesitate to steal whatever comes their way, while the ordinary Ghanaian languishes in abject poverty. Independent my foot. Those who opposed our independent at that time, were right. If you like, let a ship dock at Tema or Takoradi harbor and announced that they are looking for people to go to the US, Europe etc and see those who will be left behind then ask yourself why?

Most people who frequents this site, lives abroad and the question is why? Why is everybody trying hard to leave the shores of Ghana?

Did you finished School with all of your classmates you started Class one (1)with ?.
The process and the fight for independence did not started and ended in one day.Therefore,a lot happened in the process.
From The Fante Confederation,Gold Coast Aborigines Protection Society,and finally UGCC.
So the Big Six came about by the 6 UGCC men who presented a petition to the then Governor or were invited by the Governor on behalf of the people(I stand to be corrected)in the struggle for independence.
Until recently,I also thought those who mounted the podium on the 6th of March 1957 were the "Big Six".
Where are historians ! Please clear the air.

Danqauh the first African doctorate who caught the path to independence and also suggested changing Gold Cost to Ghana when Ghana attained independent while Nkrumah was then serving as the secretary of African Students Union in London.There is nothing wrong with this and does not discredit Nkrumah`s accomplishment. Mornah you needs to do more research about Ghana as a young man who didn`t experience nothing about what you are talking about. There was a big six?
