British High Commission Visa Section "Drop Box"

As part of our continual efforts to improve the service offered to visa applicants, the British High Commission has the pleasure of providing the following information about our revised "Drop Box" facility for certain categories of visa applicants.

If you meet the criteria set out below you may use our Drop Box facility. Applicants may be submitted during opening hours from 0700 to 1000 Monday to Friday (except public holidays). An applicant may drop off the application(s) in person or send a representative. Please check that you meet the criteria; that you enclose full supporting documentation; and a Barclays Bank draft made out for the correct fee. We aim to have your passport ready for collection from the outside Enquiry Office window from 1330hrs on the day of application. Someone may collect your passport on your behalf providing they have your numbered collection ticket; your receipt; a letter of authority; and identification. One member of a family may collect for family applications.

Please remember use of the facility does not guarantee the issue of a visa and the Entry Clearance Officer may wish to see you in person. You will be notified of this in writing.

Who may use the Drop box facility?

You have traveled to the UK, USA, Canada or Australia within the last five years in the same category as you are applying now (for example as a visitor) or you have traveled to a Schengen country or Switzerland (in the same category) within the last three years, have evidence of this travel and have not been refused a visa since your travel.

You are aged 60 years or over and are visiting your mother, father, sister, brother, son/daughter or grandson/daughter in the UK. You are a diplomat in the Ghanaian Foreign Service, or in a diplomatic mission in Ghana. Applications should be accompanied by an official note from the MFA or the Mission as appropriate.

You are applying as a student and have previously studied in the UK on a student visa. You must include full supporting documents - or you are a student with full British Council sponsorship.
