Former NACOB Boss dares NPP to reopen investigations into Nayele’s cocaine bust

The Akufo-Addo led government has been dared to launch fresh investigations into the infamous 12 kilos of cocaine bust in the United Kingdom involving Ghanaian/Australian woman, Nayele Ametefe.

“NPP made a lot of noise when they were in opposition and now in government they should open another investigations to unravel every mystery if they are serious about what they said ” Mr. Akrasi Sarpong, former Boss of Narcotics Control Board (NACOB).

“I dare them to investigate it. They have to be responsible. They made much noise. They are in government and can do it with ease….I am reminding them of their promise” he pointed it on UTV’s Adeakyi Bia.

Nayele Ametefe who was sentenced to eight years, eight months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty of illegally importing narcotics by the Isleworth Crown Court in London in 2015, was arrested at the Heathrow Airport.

Official reports indicate she managed to travel with the huge quantity of cocaine through the VIP lounge at the Kotoka International airport in 2014 but was arrested on arrival at her destination.

The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) under Mr. Akrasi Sarpong came under intense criticism for failing to prevent the drugs from leaving the country even though his outfit at the time claimed it collaborated with the British government on this bust.

The then minority in parliament called for a bi-partisan committee to investigate circumstances under which Ametefeh had access to the VIP lounge.

Mr Akrasi Sarpong however believes all these can be done once the NPP is in government and claimed he concealed some of the drug peddlers.
