President Nana Akufo-Addo’s appointee for the position as the new administrator for the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has promised to profess sanctions officials who may delay the release of funds for legislators.

The former MP for Tema West Constituency, answering a question when she appeared before the Appointments Committee, on what she will do to prevent the frustration MPs go through in accessing their common fund said, she will collaborate with parliament to make sure that the problem is solved.

Some MPs have over the years blamed the lack of development in their respective regions to delays in release of their common fund.

Some MPs have in the past blamed MCEs for deliberately frustrating the release of their funds for no apparent reasons.

But appearing before the vetting committee on Tuesday, the nominee said, although this was in the ambit of the Local Government Ministry, she will use her supervisory role to profess sanctions against such persons and has charged parliament to support her in that regard by approving of these sanctions when presented before it.

When asked if she have plans to help deprived communities and those that are unable to raise funds themselves, she said she will encourage them to access some of the funds that are available.

She further pledged to woe investors into communities that are viable for business and will encourage MPs to help develop their own constituencies and communities.
