Fiema (B/A) Feb 02, GNA - Nana Amponsah Boateng, Chief of Fiema in Nkoranza District, has called for the tarring of the road that leads from Nkoranza to the Boabeng-Fiema monkey sanctuary to facilitate the movement of tourists to the place.
He said at a press conference at Fiema that that road and the feeder road from Tankor to Boabeng-Fiema were in such a deplorable state that drivers found it difficult to ply on them during the rainy season. The chief said despite several appeals for the rehabilitation of the roads, there had not been any positive response and called on both the government and the Ghana Tourist Board to assist.
Nana Amponsah said as the sanctuary generated a lot of revenue, the government should try to make the road motorable to boost tourist attraction.
Mr Benjamin Adu-Darko, the Assembly Member, expressed gratitude to the government for extending electricity to the area but urged the contractor to expedite work on the project.
Mr Paul Opoku Yeboah, chairman of the Unit Committee, commended the youth in the two communities for their efforts in protecting the sanctuary against bush fires.
